The Balsams
We were brought on to The Balsams Restoration project by Les Otten and the team at Garrand to bring to life some of the many heartwarming stories that defined the resort’s past, and integrate those memories with Les Otten’s vision for the dynamic future of The Balsams. The goal was to bring the spirit of the resort to the forefront, and energize the message of rebirth that was key to capturing the attention of the project’s current and future stakeholders.

Spurwink
Spurwink asked us to conceptualize and produce a video to be used for their annual fundraising campaign. We decided to do what we do best, tell real, unscripted stories about the people whose lives Spurwink has touched in meaningful ways. We filmed with incredible individuals and families to highlight the successes of Spurwink’s mission, providing behavioral health and education services to children, adults and families.
Fun and Fluff
Documentary filmmaking doesn’t have to be so serious! Sometimes, you just want to see what life is like when you let loose… Here’s a mashup of some of the fun and fluffy projects we’ve worked on recently.
Tasty Treats
Invasive species become sushi, Inuit Ice Cream whipped up with hand picked wild blueberries mixed with seal blubber, and black ink drink trends… mmmm mmmm!
Our Planet
From Hawaii’s Plastic Beach, to the retreating Mendenhall Glacier, the Jynx crew travels across America capturing stories that tell the tale of the Earth under seige, and the people who are trying to turn the tide on Climate Change.
Street Beefs
Easily one of the best characters and all-around good humans we have ever worked with, this documentary follows Chris “Scarface” Wilmore, who has started a backyard fight club as an alternative to senseless gang violence in his town. Rivals who have a beef can schedule their fight and go mano-a-mano in front of an audience. No matter who wins, their honors will be intact and lives will be saved.
Ron Clark Academy
The Ron Clark Academy is a school like no other. We were so thrilled to spend a couple of days with the amazing teachers and students to shoot this segment. We still get goosebumps watching one of our kids being honored at the end. If only all schools could inspire this much enthusiasm.
American Dream
In this prime time special, two of Germany’s best-known hosts travel across America to discover if the “American Dream” is still a thing or nothing but a faded cliche. In several “Dirty Jobs”-style segments, they get their hands dirty in Montana gold mines, Vegas construction sites, on Texas oil fields and in the freezing Maine rivers.
Forever Young
Our most ambitions global documentary to date, “Forever Young,” explores the age-old quest to extend life as long as possible. We spend time with the world’s most famous biohacker, visit a “timeless” cult, and get advice from Centennials in the world’s oldest village.
Matt Stutzman
We follow famous “Armless Archer,” Matt Stutzman, as he trains for the Olympics. Shooting bullseye after bullseye with his feet, he shows us how to drive a car armless and throws in a tip or two on how to talk your way out of a traffic ticket.
Skiing Jaws
Shot over three months in California and Maui, our award-winning sports documentary, broadcast in the US on CBS, tells the story of surf legend Chuck Patterson’s quest to become the first person to surf Maui’s iconic Jaws break…on skis.
Maine Tourism Association
Frequent Jynx collaborator Ted O’Meara of O’Meara Communications developed a great campaign idea for the MTA, highlighting people and businesses around the state that benefit from Maine’s expansive tourism industry with a twist. These are businesses that people don’t usually think of when they think of tourism: boat builders, car dealers, or as in this example, growers and farmers.
We are 12 x :30 second spots in, with a third campaign on deck.
Norway Savings Bank
Portland marketing agency, Ethos, trusted us with their latest Norway Savings campaign, told entirely in POV. Each one of the four spots is focused on art and local artists. It was an absolute blast working with some of Maine’s most creative people, both in front of and behind the camera.
IFC / World Bank Group
Jynx has worked with IFC for over a decade, producing content before, during, and after their major global conferences on Health Care, Education and Global Warming. This conference in Barcelona was our personal favorite. It must have been the tapas and sangria on location!
Bowdoin College
A mini-documentary commissioned by Bowdoin College, on the day Martin Luther King Jr. visited Bowdoin in 1963, told through the perspective of alumnae eyewitnesses, and current students. The interviews were emotional and heart-wrenching. Almost 50 years later, we still see the impression MLK Jr. left on the student body and Brunswick community.
Draco Boats
Marketing Agency, Blaze, hired Jynx to create video content to be used across DRACO Boat’s mediaverse. We filmed beauty shots in five stunning Maine locations with 14 actors and a crew of ten, including a ridiculously talented DP who could launch and land a high end drone from a boat cooler.
First National Bank
This video for an ad campaign for First National Bank came from a Jynx collaboration with Ethos and distinguished director, Ben Kahn, who asked 20 local filmmakers to submit footage that would tell the story of “Because You Can.” The result is an intimate and exhilarating journey into the hearts and minds of everyday folks in New England. It is also our first, local Super Bowl commercial!
